A restaurant
like Pigalle would be fairly unremarkable on Rue Montparnasse. But
in New York City, it gives you a rush of lorning for leisurely afternoons
in Paris.
Pigalle is true to the traditional Parisian bistro, a place that's
intensely casual in both atmosphere but in its ability to turn out
great food.
I had Eggs Benedict that were as good as any I've had. The fritadas
have Michelle trying to recreate the recipe. But most haunting were
the home fries that a day later, still leave a delicious taste in
my mouth.
We ate brunch at Pigalle, but the restaurant is open 24 hours. It
has a full bar and wine closet. Pigalle is located on 8th Ave. at
48th makes it a good after theater joint with the advantage of reasonable
prices (for NY). For NJ folks it's close to Penn station (by cab and
subway).
Perhaps the aspect of Pigalle that surprised us most was the excellent
service. Unlike most French restaurants who pride themselves in surly
unattentive wait-staff, the group at Pigalle was pleasant, prompt
and professional from the moment we entered until we left.
