Meal Eaten: Breakfast/Brunch Lunch Dinner
Comments:
The meal began with a chef's treat of chicken sausage which was absolutely delicious. Too bad it wasn't on the menu. For appetizers Michelle had the foie gras and Dan a mixed green salad. Neither of them was anything special. Michelle didn't read the menu clearly enough to see the foie gras wasn't a pate. The main course proved to be much better. The roast loin of rabbit was good although it tasted a lot like pork. The truffles pommes were stupendous. I have never had potatoes that tasted so good. Dan thought his portabello mushroom with polenta was great. And, yes, there was room for dessert. The wood strawberry crepe was good but paled in comparison to the peach crisp. The petits fours tray was good as well.
This was a wonderful place to celebrate our first anniversary. The restaurant has an extensive wine list (They claim a 550-bottle list) and the view is spectacular. We sat at a table near the French doors and could look out over the water. Eating at Rat's is the only way to get nighttime access to Grounds for Sculpture (an outdoor sculpture garden). Dinner is worth the price of admission for the beautiful and romantic walk through thr garden.
