Tawandang or Red Sun
Type of Cuisine: Thai Style German

Meal Eaten: Breakfast/Brunch Lunch Dinner

Comments:

A really big German beer hall off the beaten path in Bangkok. The joint is casual but has live music every night. The music could be described as Thai fusion.

Few "farang" are in this upscale crowd and the staff doesn't speal English. The menu is full of items and you're lucky to find one in English. We would advise that you avoid the fried catfish. The waitress brought this dish to the table and at first we thought she brought us the wrong thing until I tried it. When I did, I could taste what should have been catfish. It was actually more like essence of catfish because the fleshy part that we here in the U.S. would normally eat was missing. We really don't know (or want to know) what part they actually cooked.

Service was a bit slow but it was a huge place. They could probably use a few more people on the wait staff. Tawandang gets points for the show and people-watching experience.
